Pioneering since more than 6 Decades

Bhubaneswar Kala Kendra is one of the oldest and premier cultural Institutions of the state of Odisha situated in the Temple City Bhubaneswar and dedicated for promotion and education of Indian Classical Arts & Culture. It was established by a group of ten Art-loving persons mostly the ministerial staff of Government of Odisha who were also highly talented in Singing, Acting, Play-writes, Play-directions, etc. Being established on 08.08.1955, it started its journey in different places of Unit-2, Bhubaneswar and registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860 (XXI of 1860) bearing Registration No.208/3 of 1958 on 12.03.1958. Then, it was shifted to its own Building at Unit-6, Bhubaneswar which was inaugurated by Padmabibhusan Guru Sri Kelu Charan Mohapatra on 19.09.1967. At present, Bhubaneswar Kala Kendra is a well known institution imparting quality education and training in the subjects of Indian Classical Music (Vocal & Instrumental), Classical Odissi Dance and Fine Arts (Painting). It is also conducting examinations in the field of performing and visual arts for more than 50 years. About more than 5000 students have since passed in different streams and many of them have made their mark at the state and national levels.

Besides this, Kala Kendra undertakes various cultural activities not only in the State but also across various other Indian states / cities in collaboration / association and support of the state government / cultural bodies. Holding of seminars, conferences, workshops, painting exhibitions, competitions etc. are some of its other main functions to upkeep the cultural flag of Odisha high.
